As a rule, you may be on antibiotic treatment at the same time as your cancer treatment. However, there may be some medicinal products that may interact with the treatment, such as clarithromycin and erythromycin. Contact your outpatient clinic if treatment with these medicinal products is being considered.
You can continue to work to the extent that you have the energy to do so. It is very individual how much energy you have both physically and mentally, and you may need to take sick leave for a shorter or longer period of time. As a rule, it is a good idea to maintain your usual level of activity as far as possible. However, many must accept that it may be necessary to reduce the pace and expectations of day-to-day activities. Listen to your body and focus on what makes you happy and gives meaning to your everyday life.
When you start a new treatment, you will be given a treatment card. Take this with you as well as the tablets in your hand luggage. Otherwise, talk to the pharmacist, who can advise on other precautions for other medication.

Depending on the extent of the individual operation, it will be necessary to pause the treatment both before and after the operation. The treatment affects both the bleeding tendency and the healing process, so always consult your doctor before planning an operation, as the duration of the pause may vary.
When you start treatment for your kidney cancer, we do not recommend that you travel for the first 3 months, as we do not know how you will respond to the medicine – for example, if there are any side effects that you need help to manage. In addition, we always recommend that you consider a dedicated insurance . The secretaries can forward the necessary case notes to the insurance company, which usually only covers in the event of stable illness.
We therefore recommend that you wait until you have been to the first evaluation scan after 12 weeks before travelling.

Most of the treatment-related medication is dispensed free of charge on admission to the department. In special circumstances, we can assist in contacting a social worker at the hospital. It is possible to borrow a blood pressure device, and you can get financial support for e.g. protein drinks.
